Bug #2554
closed"Infinite" redirects on (some) status update URLs?
0%
Description
I received an alert from the google webmaster tools service saying that it "detected a significant increase" in pages it was unable to index.
I followed one of the example URLs it's complaining about, http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/activity/p/58201/, and it seems that indeed it triggers an infinite redirect loop. Having said that I have no idea if this is actually a bug, or even at all meaningful, or instead just an error on how googlebot does its thing. I'm posting here just in case it's relevant.
Boone, perhaps you can help me route this ticket appropriately?

- Target version set to 1.4.26
- Severity set to Low impact
It looks like this odd behavior comes from a combination of a BP peculiarity and some custom plugins we're using. I've put a minimal fix into BuddyPress: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4971
That fix won't be available until BP 1.8, so I'm going to write an alternative stopgap for CAC.
