Description

We are looking to create a site for a new open access journal we are starting on the Commons and I wanted to clear that they would be okay for installation when the time comes here is the list of the plugins and their webpages:

EasyRotator for Wordpress - http://wordpress.org/plugins/easyrotator-for-wordpress/ (this one is the most unusual as it has a wizard that is installed via AIR and interfaces with a manager within the Wordpress install, very effective and easy to use/style but want to make sure it is kosher with you)
Column Shortcodes - http://wordpress.org/plugins/column-shortcodes/
Next Page Buttons - http://wordpress.org/plugins/nextpage-buttons/

While I am at it I have attached the almost complete version of the theme we will be using for the site for your review. I don't think that there will be any functional changes from this point on in its development, only minor CSS ones, so this is probably a good version to look at to see if there are any problems with the theme's code.

Thanks
Kimon

Can I get a timeframe on these plugins? I am currently developing with their approval as a given and would like to know if I have to restart for any reason.

I would also like to add to the list:
WP Post to PDF: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-post-to-pdf/

Also here is the most recent version of the theme for review if need be. Changes should be minor at this point

Hi Kimon --

We're on a summer release schedule - http://dev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2013/06/11/summer-release-schedule-for-the-cuny-academic-commons/ - so that we can concentrate on developing major new features for the Commons this summer. Our next release is actually tomorrow (July 11), with the following one on August 11. In September, we'll go back to three releases per month.

So, assuming Boone doesn't find any problems with these plugins/themes, they should be on the site after tomorrow.

Can you please create a new ticket for the new plugin? We like to keep one task per ticket, so ideally, each plugin/theme request should be in its own ticket.

Thanks!

Thanks Matt will start a new ticket.

The monthly schedule should be fine for our work schedule. Will probably aim to have everything ready to hand over to you a couple of weeks before August 11. Just didn't want to overwork a plugin that doesn't comply.

Also, very cool that you are starting a new OA journal on the Commons! We will be sure to feature it prominently.

Once we get this one up and going we are going to tweak the theme and then make another journal OA (Journal of American Drama and Theatre). Interesting challenge will be getting 30+ year history of our journals available on the site (we were able to do this for 10 years of events on the MESTC site because they were all on the old website). Right now they only exist in print so might take cutting out of binding scanning and uploading PDFs. Not ideal for searching :)

Looks like easyrotator only requires Air for the admin, not for people viewing the posts. That seems more reasonable than what I was imagining.

Theme looks good. Thanks, Kimon. Added in https://github.com/castiron/cac/commit/ef5e33ef62e31c0a7a78d000e592066c7e4e19d4

I assume you only want the ES theme enabled on a specific site. Can you tell me which site that is, so that I can enable it after release?

Thanks for all this Boone. The theme will be exclusive to europeanstages.commons.gc.cuny.edu

The theme has been enabled on europeanstages.commons.gc.cuny.edu. You should now be able to activate it from Dashboard > Appearance.
