The attached screenshot shows what happens when I click the X next to a file that I had previously attached to a group message.

Odd, it looks like this has been broken for years. I've put in a fix at https://github.com/castiron/cac/commit/841e78b18b6c1c7fbbf585ef0352e80123f317e2
