Matt - This item on the activity feed has nothing to do with forums. It is created automatically when a group is created, unless the group is marked private/hidden. I just did a test run with a hidden group and nothing showed up on the news feed. Perhaps you created the group and then went back and made it private afterward? That's the only explanation I can think of. Have you tried doing any activity inside the group? Post something to the wire and see if it shows up on the activity feed.

You're almost exactly right, Boone. On the second step of the group creation process, I did initially select "Public." However, before I created the group, I went back and selected "hidden." I would have thought that changing the designation before actually selecting "create group" would have been sufficient, but I guess that BP creates the entry an entry in the database as soon as the first step in the group-creation process is complete.

At any rate, you're right that this is a non-issue, so I'll close the ticket.

There is a separate hook at the end of each of the four steps of group creation (the hook happens when you hit the submit button on each of the four pages), and the actual db entry (and corresponding activity stream entry) are hooked to the submit button on the second group. I guess the logic is that, by that point, it already knows everything it needs to make the group and decide whether to publish something to the activity stream (the following pages just have avatars and members), so it may as well go ahead and do it. Anyway, it's something to keep in mind.
