CUNY Academic Commons

The out-of-the-box setup for this plugin is like this. Default subscriptions are configured by group admins on a group-by-group basis. The default setting for groups is No Email. I'm thinking that what will work best for our community is to turn off the group admin setting and to force all defaults to All Email (sending immediate emails about everything), since it's what most closely matches the current settings on the Commons. Users will then be able to override the default for a given group in the normal way. Could anyone provide some feedback on this?

In the future I'd like to implement per-user defaults (as I think that the control really belongs in the hands of users rather than group admins). But this is beyond what currently exists on the Commons, so I don't think it needs to be wrapped up with this particular enhancement.

I'm in agreement with everything you've posted here -- that default-on is the way to go in the short term, but default-user is the way to go in the long term. Thanks for your work on this.
