Feature #3531
closedLet Users Hover over Hero Slides to Stop Animation

Description
The homepage hero slides go by quickly, and it would be nice if you might "hover over" to stop the animation. I think this functionality is built-in in CBOX.

Cool idea. Dan, you want to dig into this a little bit? We use a custom plugin for this, called post-gallery-widget; it uses http://www.malsup.com/jquery/cycle/ for the image cycling. It looks like the 'pause' option is what we want http://www.malsup.com/jquery/cycle/options.html but this needs some testing.

Here's the changeset - https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/d0d4a17b28ca4523b38a2c7f9522cea88b3b47a8
Was as simple as you suggested Boone - just added the pause option to the .cycle({}) options. Working locally but my local slider is a little funny since I didn't get the attachments with my version and added my own, which weren't exactly the right size, so it's definitely worth testing it out on a setup closer to the live site.

Thanks, Dan! Since this is done, I moved it back to 1.7 and applied it to the 1.7.x branch: https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/419b87789c43609b1057dcd538351ed95b2bb4a6
I also added a slightly darker color to the border of the hero image when hovering over. It's barely perciptible if you're not looking for it, but I'm hopeful it'll be helpful in letting people know that hovering over the image has an effect.
This is ready to test on cdev (though cdev is responding very slowly at the moment). Scott, will you have a look please?

Awesome. Looks really neat. So this will also be added to 1.7, right?
