Description

Hi Team,

I was running a workshop for a class that is using the Commons last week and was having trouble with the Google Maps Embed plugin. It worked very intermittently and seemingly only when it wanted to. The plug-in's page on the Wordpress plug-in directory says: "IMPORTANT: This plugin is NO LONGER actively maintained. It still pretty much 'works', but if you're relying on it for embedding maps, you should probably begin looking for a new solution."

This plug-in : https://wordpress.org/plugins/embed-google-map/ looks more supported and more powerful. Is there a chance we could get this added by the next release?

Best,

Andy

Boone, we have a faculty member hoping to use this; if we can get this new plugin into the next release, that would be great (unless you have concerns about it). Thank you.

Thanks, Andy, and good call.

In https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/281b476e33824beede8b17eacac70232c0abb128 the new plugin is added.

In https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/84b7b9180dbbd7dc20e1392487934c799c41bb86 I've hidden the old plugin so that it can no longer be activated on sites. It will remain activated for existing users.

I've added Scott as a watcher just in case he needs to make any documentation changes corresponding to this change.
