Description
We have had a request for group admins to be allowed to attach files to announcement posts. How might this be set up? It would be cool if such attachments were added to the Group Docs listing, but it would be nice if the act of sending an announcement with a attachment created only one notification plugin.
As with our forum attachment protocol, I think it makes sense not to send out the attachment itself, but rather a link to it.

I would offer not to do too much work for a one-off feature like this, unless it was also part of a larger rethinking of the way that document storage or file attachments work. Ideally they system will be built on such a way to make file attachment easy in the context of any BP component.
In the meantime, I would advise suggesting to the member that she post the document in the normal fashion and sending a separate announcement.

We're phasing out group announcements in favor of forum posts, which already support attachments. See #3175.
