Description

Boone, you built the wonderful Unconfirmed plugin, which allows us to see who created an account but didn't activate it. The problem is that one needs to be a sitewide administrator to see it. Our community facilitators, and Marilyn in particular, are on the front lines of our help desk and it would be great if they could check this tool when answering messages about people who complain that they never received the activation email, etc. But they don't need to be, and probably shouldn't be, sitewide administrators.

Could you possibly create a new role that would allow community facilitators access to this tool?

Target version set to 1.10

It'll take some internal reworking of Unconfirmed, but yes, it's possible.

FWIW it's extremely annoying that WP doesn't have this feature built in. Someone once actually proposed adding Unconfirmed to core https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27145, and it's a longstanding WP Multisite problem https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/16001. At some point, it may be worth me spending some time, under the aegis of the Commons, shepherding a proper interface into WordPress itself.

Thanks, and yes, we can/should support that work. Registration is one of the central pain points that it would be good to address

I made some changes to Unconfirmed and released version 1.3. Updated on the Commons in https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/d3a09f315ed3ebbab14c1211679e4d5df724937d

In https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/2b55680a1eabbd688a084e6ad64055634f2d94c7 I put the necessary filters into place so that Editors on the main site will be able to access Dashboard > Users > Unconfirmed. Note that the Unconfirmed menu will no longer be available in the Network Admin.
