Bug #543

Cannot upload file to wiki
Added by Sarah Morgano almost 14 years ago.
Updated almost 14 years ago.
Description
I was trying to upload a file (jpg) to the wiki and it took me to an Internal Error page with the following text (screenshot attached):
"The upload directory (public) is not writable by the webserver."
Files
Seems like the /images folder is owned by commons:commons, rather than commons:apache.
Sarah, I've changed the folder permission there to squash the bug. Should be ok now. (Still gotta look into what caused the problem, though) : /
I changed it. I caused the problem.
660 ll /var/www/html/wiki/images/
661 chown -R commons:commons $_
Don't remember why. (wtf!)

Thanks for your quick response, André! Sarah, can you confirm that it is working now?

Glad I was online. No problem.
But hey, I may have blamed myself too readily!
I see a bunch of commands in history that I definitely didn't issue. Stuff about github and stuff. Totally weird.
Like, who commited this? Am I going crazy?
375 git commit -m "added wiki/images to folders ignored in .gitignore"
I thought only root's command got logged on that history and I don't think anyone else has root's pw... Hmm, I guess I have some more home-work to do.
I was able to upload and embed the image on a wiki page. Many thanks, André!

Cool, I'll close the ticket and take the mystery elsewhere : )

Boone, can you comment on the Github question when you have a chance? Thanks.
