Description
Team,
If possible, we'd like to clone jitp.commons.gc.cuny.edu to jitpdev.commons.gc.cuny.edu. This will allow us to preserve jitpstaging.commons as a pure staging space, and work through some development needs over the next few months in a different space.
Possible?
Thx,
Luke

Sure. I found a decent plugin for cloning sites and have added it to the repo in https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/435d52cbb717fb013d7427690251d0be5462c835. After tomorrow's release, I'll perform the clone. I'll update this ticket when it's done.

That's really great. I've found replicating WP sites to be a bit of a headache over the years, since so many of the theme settings get reset after a SQL export/import

Hi Luke - I've cloned the site. Everything should be the same as jitp, except that I've changed jitpdev's visibility so that only members of the site can see it: https://jitpdev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/options-reading.php Let me know if you have any more issues.

Boone-- can you please add Luke Waltzer to the CAC github repo? I want to take a look at the plugin so I can better understand the clone process. If you want to keep access to the repo restricted to the devs, that's fine; just send me a link to the plugin site.
Thanks!

I've added you to the repo https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/
This is the plugin: https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/tree/master/wp-content/plugins/multisite-clone-duplicator Looks like this is the place to start reading: https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/blob/master/wp-content/plugins/multisite-clone-duplicator/lib/duplicate.php#L21

Now that we've published Issue 9, could a superadmin please reclone jitp to jitpdev?
Matt, could you also please add Laura to this thread, so we can consider closing jitp to jitpstaging?
Thx-

Yes, I can reclone. Just to verify: All existing content on jitpdev will be deleted. This is what you want?

Yes, thank you. Let's hold off on Laura's okay to do so to jitpstaging, however.

Sounds good. jitpdev.commons.gc.cuny.edu has been recloned, with privacy set to "I would like my site to be visible only to users I add to it."

Hi All,
Let's go ahead and clone the production site (http://jitp.commons.gc.cuny.edu/) to the staging site (http://jitpstaging.commons.gc.cuny.edu/). Will the password protection still be in place once the site is cloned?
Thank you!!

To clarify: "the password protection" is the WordPress login requirement, correct? If so, I will be sure to mirror it manually after cloning. Or do you mean something else?

Yes, the Wordpress login requirement is exactly what I mean. Thank you, Boone!

The site has been cloned. I've set the privacy settings (password protection) to "Admins only" https://jitpstaging.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/options-reading.php.
If you need a reclone, please open a new ticket. Thanks!
