Description
I'm in discussions with someone who wants to create email subscriptions for his blog -- he wants subscribers to be notified by email of new posts on the blog.
The system we suggest in this post -- http://help.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2010/02/24/how-to-create-blog-subscriptions/ -- doesn't work for blogs that have private/password-protected feeds.
The Subscribe2 plugin is supposed to have this functionality, but in my experience, it doesn't work. Can you conduct a quick review and test of existing options so that you can let me know whether we can use something that's already out there or whether we should build something new?
Copying Ron and Andrea on this since they may know of some other options.

Can you be more specific about how Subscribe2 does not work?
