Description

A user requests:
"My co-designer really wants to embed Instagram pictures on the blog, and to include an Instagram feed, but I notice that Instagram embeds don't show up on the public view of the pages, and there is no Instagram widget or plugin available. Would it be possible to add the Instagram Feed WD to the Academic Commons Wordpress array? The site I am working on is https://bcmuseumed.commons.gc.cuny.edu, belonging to Chris Richards. "
Possible?
Thanks!
- Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,

Instagram embeds should be supported. To use, paste the URL of an Instagram post on its own line in the editor. Eg:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BGUNt-3oi9z/

Let me know if this addresses the issue.

Boone -

Unfortunately, no. I'm trying on a PC with Chrome, IE and Firefox with this linkhttp://bcmuseumed.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2016/06/05/instagram-test/

The user reports: I've tried it with both Mac and PC, on Firefox, Chrome, IE, and Microsoft Edge.

She sent the zip file for Instagram Feed WD if you'd like to go that route instead. It's attached

I would like to avoid adding a new plugin to provide existing functionality, if possible.

There aren't many details to go on in your bug report, but I interpret "it's not working" to mean that the Instagram frame was loading, but the image itself was not. This is the behavior I was seeing on the test post you've linked to. I traced this issue to a recently-reported BuddyPress bug: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7084 I've put a temporary fix in place in https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/469213554b383d7ad638078f975b88147595fea1 In my tests, this is making the embed render completely; see http://bcmuseumed.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2016/06/05/instagram-test/

Please let me know whether I've interpreted the bug report properly, and whether it's working for you now.

Yes, that's what I meant. Your fix is working, so all is well now.
