In a blog post written a year ago (http://help.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2010/02/24/how-to-create-blog-subscriptions/), I suggested that that Subscription Options + Feedburner was the best way to create notifications to members of new posts. At the time, we had problems with the Subscribe2 plugin, which creates email alerts for new posts.

It appears to me that Subscribe2 is now working, so I think we should do a few things:

-- Test out Subscribe2 on a test blog to make sure it works for both public and private blogs (I've done this, but would appreciate a second test)
-- Create a new blog post on the help blog that highlights this functionality
-- Put an update at the top of the older post linking to the new one
-- Update the Codex

Scott, can you give this a shot?
