Bug #668
closedDocs cannot be saved in some browsers
0%
Description
From Scott: "Windows. In Firefox 4.0 – I am unable to create or edit docs. I am able to enable the docs tab, but when I enter a new title and content and hit save, the title and content are wiped out, and I get the red error message – “Both the title and the contents fields are required.”"
"out of curiosity - I tried Windows 7/Safari 5.0 - and again could not save documents (similar to Windows 7/Firefox 4 and 3.6)"
I am unable to reproduce this problem. I've tested on Firefox 3.6.x on Windows Vista and Windows 7; haven't found a machine with FF4 yet to test.
If this is indeed a problem beyond Scott, it's very important that it be fixed. Can I ask others with access to Windows Vista/7 machines to attempt creating/editing Docs with FF4 or with Safari?

Vista/7 only or would an XP test be useful?

I experienced this earlier today as well. It gave me the same error message when I tested with Safari 5/FireFox 3.6.

Matt - Any tests are useful, though Scott's problems were reported with Vista and 7.
Sarah - OS?

Also, everyone who has this problem, please, please send links in addition to browser/OS info.

Scott, do you have Firebug? If not, can you install it? Turn it on; click the Console tab; click Persist; then go to a Doc Edit page. Do you get any errors? I have an inkling that you will get a message about switchEditors not being defined, but for the life of me I can't find a computer where it's happening for me.

Hi Boone - glad to report that now I can save docs in Windows 7 / Firefox 4.0. Safari, Chrome, and IE8 and Windows Vista Firefox 3.6. I also noticed that issues with kitchen sink and Vistual/HTML toggling with Windows 7/IE 8 have disappeared as well!

I guess I must have pulled some changes to cdev that fixed the problem.
Sarah, can I ask you to test again before I close the ticket?
