Leah would like her commons site - http://murphyinstituteblog.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ to be mapped to SLUblog.org
Right now it is mapped to murphyinstituteblog.org
She will redirect murphyinstituteblog.org to SLUblog.org once the mapping is complete
She has pointed SLUblog.org's CNAME to the Commons

Hi - I have contacted Leah and she believes that she has created the required CNAME record. Please see attached. Is there something that is incorrect?
The DNS entry is for www, ie www.slublog.org. In accordance with the recent discussion with Lihua, there should be an @ entry that covers slublog.org (no subdomain), with subdomains like www. directed to slublog.org via redirects rather than DNS entries.
Hi Boone - Leah has now created a "@" cname record and deleted the "www" cname record. Can you see if it's ok?
Also, since it is a switchover - does she need to remove the cname record on murphyinstituteblog.org?

Looks like the DNS for slublog.org is correct now.
Once the setup is complete, she should remove the CNAME record for murphyinstituteblog.org and set up a redirect to slublog.org. Then we can inform Lihua that he can remove murphyinstituteblog.org from his provisioning scripts.

the ssl cert for slublog.org has been generated and mapping has been completed at the server level.
Please ask Boone to map the external domain to the commons site.
Please ask the user to redirect murphyinstituteblog.org to slublog.org so that we can remove mapping for the old domain.

I'm leaving this ticket open as a reminder for Scott to ping the user about creating the redirect for the old domain.
Thanks Boone - I have let Leah know.
She has created the redirect. Apparently there was not a CNAME record but instead an "A" record. I have ask her to delete that one.
Just to confirm, when she is making changes to the site, she should go to http://murphyinstituteblog.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ ?
