Improved formatting in groupblog emails

Description
Is it possible for the formatting of emails to groups when new posts are made to more closely match the formatting in the posts? In particular, I have been asked by a couple of users at BMCC if links from the body of a blog post could be preserved in the email. I've also been asked why paragraph formatting is altered in the emails and whether this can be improved. I know this may not be possible, but wanted to provide the users with an explanation of how that process works and what the limitations are.

Hi Tom - Could you please share screenshots of emails that demonstrate the issue, so that we can have a closer look?
Thanks, Tom. What email client are you using? It looks like maybe a web client, but which? Have you toggled some setting (either on the Commons or in your client) that forces emails to be read as plaintext rather than using HTML?
Ray, could this be due to some issue with email templates and non-root-blogs?
- Assignee set to Raymond Hoh
- Target version set to 1.14.6
I just tested locally and the HTML email template is retained when posting from a groupblog's admin dashboard.
Tom might have set his email to plain-text in his email client or through the "My Settings > Notifications" page under "Email Type".
I can confirm that links on anchor text from groupblog content are stripped in the email body. I'll see if this only occurs in groupblog content or if group forum content is also affected.
- Subject changed from Improved formatting in emails to groups when new posts to Improved formatting in groupblog emails
- Status changed from New to Assigned
Update: HTML is stripped only for groupblog emails. Group forum emails are unaffected.
Will look to support basic HTML tags for groupblog emails.
- Status changed from Assigned to Staged for Production Release
Thanks!
I have a loosely related question (please let me know if you prefer this be on a separate ticket): Is there any way to suppress email notification to a group for selected blog posts? We have some sites where admins craft their sites with blog posts as building blocks, sometimes putting up a string of them in quick succession, and prefer that these don't send out notifications since they aren't meant to be read as individual items. Is there a workaround to achieve that? Or maybe this could be a feature request ...
Hi Tom - That's a good idea for a separate feature request, and aligns with the "silent" feature we use elsewhere on the site. See #4676, #3599, #4636, etc. Please feel free to open a ticket.
Ray, thanks for the quick fix.
