Description
We would like to display recent tweets from a Twitter search (e.g., #openpedagogy) in a widget on our site. Do you have any suggestions about how to do this? I've looked at the existing plugins and none of them seem to support this (they only support displaying your own tweets). I've also tried creating an rss feed of the search and using one of the rss widgets, but this has also failed for various reasons (feedburners not working or not supporting this type of feed). Is there a different approach that I've overlooked? Or is it possible to install a plugin that would support this?

I think that Twitter recently discontinued its Widgets API, which is the only easy way I could see to embed a hashtag search.
Scott, can you figure anything out?
Thanks for researching this, Scott.
I have not used (or heard of) Smash Balloon, but the demo makes it look pretty nice. I assume it works by making API calls to Twitter's /search/ endpoint, which I believe is the only remaining way that Twitter allows external access to search results.
If we think that this is something that users across the Commons would like, I'd suggest we buy their "developer license". Because of Twitter's fickle disregard for its ecosystem, I'd suggest that it's important to have access to plugin updates; this way, we'll be insulated from API deprecations, etc. A lifetime license appears to be $139 + $249 = $378.
Matt, do you have thoughts about this?
