You specifically mentioned categories in this ticket, but not tags. Is this based on actual requests from teaching faculty? They're generally more likely to use categories than tags in a way that's relevant for grading? I ask because adding another column for Tags may introduce an overwhelming amount of info on the page.

Most professors I have worked with and seen that use categories or tags are using categories to signify certain assignments (i.e. 'reading response 2' or 'week 3 post'). Tags are often more student-driven, allowing them to add keywords, themes, ertc to the post. Tags are not often used as a grading mechanism.

My reasoning for including categories in reckoning allows a prof to do a quick scan and see that the student is missing the 'reading response 2' and "week three reflection" posts quickly without having to determine which posts are which since student titles are not always informative. I have experienced this myself and have been told this from several other professors using categories as an assignment marker/organizer.

So long story short, no I don't think its absolutely necessary to display tags in this view.

This type of category display in reckoning looks right to me. The only question I have - would it be possible to label the columns? Something like: Users posts (or comments), category, date.

I dont think this is super important but it would help make clear that the categories are listed with the post title.
