Description

On a mobile device, can the short description have a little top padding so that it displays better? See attached.

Scott, can you say more about what you're asking for? You mean more space between the user's name and the line below it? It looks to me like the three sections here (name, Brief Descriptor, About Me) are the same distance from each other, but you're suggesting that the space between Name and BD should be greater?

Sorry, I meant the padding between Brief Description and About Me. I think it would look better if the About Me section was full width and not leave the blank space under the member's picture. Looking at another member's profile, I actually don't think it is a padding issue, but rather that the text (both brief desc and About Me) does not wrap around the picture. It looks like it they are displayed in a column. Does that make sense? see attached

Got it. Yes, that does make sense. It's not totally straightforward to fix this, because Name and Brief Descriptor can be of varying length, and we must account for that, while working around the difficulties of wrapping text around elements in CSS. I'll look into it.

I finally got a chance to look at this more closely. Without totally rewriting the markup, it's hard to do exactly what Scott originally suggested. But I was able to use Flexbox to change the layout in a different way on mobile: the avatar now appears at the top, centered on its own row. See screenshot. https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/fd37b645eae06044f4d9b0e1d93355e83675edd0

Let's call this good enough until we redesign these pages.
