Hi Luke,

May I ask you to add responses to our Plugin/Theme Request form? It can be found under "documents" in the nav bar above. Here is a direct link: http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/documents/4

No need to be absolutely comprehensive.

Thanks!

QUESTIONS FOR THE PERSON REQUESTING THE PLUGIN/THEME [generally this means Matt or a community facilitator]
- What's the name of the plugin/theme?
Category Posts Widget

- [plugins] In a few words, what does it do?
This plugin allows widgets to display posts from a particular category, and will be useful for magazine style themes with heavily widgetized layouts:

- How is the plugin/theme different from what's already provided on the Commons?
You can't do this with what's already provided, afaik.

- What's the potential impact? Who will use it?
JITP and other sexy publishing people.

- Who initially made the request? [sometimes Matt is passing along requests from members, sometimes suggesting something he found himself]
Me

- Who is the plugin author?
James Lao

- Say a little bit about the release history and popularity of the plugin. How many times has it been downloaded? When was it last updated? [The idea behind these last two questions is that I'm more likely to look favorably on plugins that are less likely to be abandoned]

Requires WordPress Version: 2.8 or higher

The 1.3.2 release is reserved for the WP upgrade.

Is there an estimated date for 1.3.3? I ask for planning purposes for the first issue of JITP. There's a very good chance that we'll need a JITP child theme as well (containing minimal changes to the existing Byline child theme), and want to make sure we deliver that sufficiently in advance of of 1.3.3.

Thx-

  • Status changed from Assigned to Reporter Feedback

Sometime in the next few weeks, depending on the pace of other development. I'm afraid I can't organize the entire release schedule around this plugin; that said, if you want to plead your case to have your stuff fasttracked, please send me an email. I guess if I had to juggle the releases I could probably do so.

Thanks; no need to re-organize release schedule or fast track anything. The Journal is looking to go live in February, so mid-January would be fine. I'll follow up about the child theme in a separate ticket as soon as I know more.

Thanks, Luke. If things start to get tight for your deadlines, and you haven't seen progress here, don't hesitate to ping me, and I can put out a minor release just for this stuff. Thanks for understanding.

This is a duplicate to the JITP package I submitted today... not sure if I should mark as resolved or what, so just contributing the note...

  • Status changed from Assigned to Rejected

We usually reject tickets that, for one reason or another, no longer need to be addressed. Marking this one rejected; if you need to reopen it, please do so.
