Description
Per a suggestion from George at the last meeting. Realize that this is set through the dashboard, but there may be resultant changes needed in other parts of the site (search, etc.). Assume that the best way to do this would be to move from dropdown to checkboxes? The question then is whether I'd have to delete the existing (required) field, which would then screw with the db. Thoughts?

Hi Boone,
Just had another request from this from a member. Here was the request:
Many of us have appointments at more than one college. For example, essentially everyone at the GC has an appointment at one of the colleges. It sucks having to choose between my home college (that pays the bills, is where I spend most of my time, where I have contacts outside of my area of research) and the GC (which is more prestigious, is where I have research contacts and graduate students).
What would be involved in giving people multiple options? Is it just a matter of changing the nature of the BP profile field through the dashboard?

Yes, but there may be complications with the way the Member Directory filters work. It should be tested on cdev first.
Okay -- made the change on Cdev. Decided to choose checkboxes instead of multi-select drop-down because I think checkboxes are more intuitive, though they take up more screen real estate.
Then went to my profile to edit. One note: although my profile, at that point, showed NYCCT as my college, when I went to edit it, no boxes were checked. Not sure what, if anything that means, though I suppose it's possible that if we change the field type and then some edits another part of their profile without re-checking a particular college, their original choice might not be registered.
At any rate, then I went and checked both NYCCT and CUNY GC. Seemed to work without a hitch, but I leave it to you to test.

Oops, shouldn't mark this resolved. i still have more testing to do with directory filters.
