Description
Our friends at JITP are completing their migration to Manifold over the next month, and are asking about the feasibility of setting up article level redirects for all previous pieces from their original permalinks on the Commons to their new locations on Manifold. Would it be feasible and possible to run a script to place these redirects once the old and new urls are compiled?
Files
Yes, we should be able to help. We'll need to understand the relationship between old article URLs and new ones. Could you, or the JITP folks, provide this for us? Or provide enough examples that we can try to establish a pattern that can be implemented programatically?
You bet. Will circle back with that when I have it, likely in a couple of weeks. Thanks Boone!
Hi Boone (and Luke!),
We've finally lined up our list of link equivalencies, here on this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oRM-Pquq9_K7F69rMwmcw_CfUsNkB2uYyYlbulAmuSs/edit?usp=sharing
We've also exported a copy of the website for safekeeping and archiving purposes.
As Luke said, our hope is that each of these Wordpress permalinks will automatically redirect to its Manifold counterpart.
Given Manifold's method of generating permalinks, there's no systematic relationship between the URLs, but they're laid out side by side in the spreadsheet.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do, or if we haven't explained what we're looking to do well enough.
Thanks so much,
Patrick at JITP
Works like a charm, and thank you for lining up those future additions (once we tidy those up on the Manifold side). As always, really appreciate your quick and clear work. Hope you have a great rest of your week!
With gratitude,
Patrick
