Description

How does one become an author of the "CUNY Academic Commons" blog? I understand the team is on this blog (main BP Theme) to add Gallery posts, but I was looking through 'newest' blogs and noticed a member had created a number of blogs within a tight timeframe. So I looked at his profile:

http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/members/till/blogs/

and saw one of his sites is the CUNY Academic Commons. How would that be possible?

I guessing through his experimenting with creating blogs he discovered some odd backdoor?

  • Status changed from New to Assigned
  • Assignee changed from Dominic Giglio to Boone Gorges
  • Target version set to Not tracked

My understanding is that everyone is technically part of the motherblog (role set to subscriber). Boone can confirm.

Matt that was my initial thought as well, but 'CUNY Academic Commons' doesn't show up on everyone's site list. He must have figured out how to be a 'Subscriber' as you suggest, so that site appears on the list?

It used to work like this: everyone is a Subscriber. (So people who have been members of the site for a long time are probably Subscribers on the main site.) For about a year now, new members have not been given any blog role. Thus the discrepancy.

It's kind of annoying that some users are Subscribers on the main Commons site, but it doesn't really hurt anything - it's probably more trouble than it's worth to rectify the problem. Unless there are objections, I'm going to leave things as they are.
