Description

Hi All,

A question from a user

The navigation bar at the top of the site is missing one menu item all of a sudden. When I go to edit the site, the navigation menu item appears. I toggled the lock function on and off and tried duplicating the item and deleting one version of it but that did not seem to work. Can you help us figure this out?

Site: https://fysresourceguide.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

I poked around a bit and was also unable to resolve the issue. This might be easily solvable and just my inability to use the site editor, but I find the site editor really confusing and am not sure how to locate the correct settings if this is an easy-to-solve-issue. It also seems that the menu items are not pages - they are just static text to create a drop down?

Any insight you can provide would be much appreciated.

Hi Laurie,

I removed the "Study Skills" menu item and recreated it and now it is showing up on the site. Can you confirm that it is working?

Hi Ray,

Thank you! Is this a bug with the site editor or was I missing something with the settings? It seems strange to have to remove an item and re-add to make it visible?

  • Category name set to WordPress (misc)
  • Status changed from Reporter Feedback to Resolved
  • Target version set to Not tracked

I see that the older "Study Skills" post was trashed: https://fysresourceguide.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=trash&post_type=post, so that might have caused its omission in the nav menu. However when editing, the nav item still shows up so I think it's a UX problem with the Navigation component with the Site Editor.

In my nav menu revision, the "Study Skills" nav item is now a link to a category that exists: https://fysresourceguide.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/revision.php?from=980&to=987. So I'm guessing the site editor's menu navigation depends on the nav item to exist for it to render correctly.

Going to mark this one as resolved.
