Any update on this? We are thinking of going live in the next 24hours and want to make sure that these domains will resolve once I shift our domain over.

Ok, should be good to go here. Just be sure to add the equivalent domain mappings in WP.

Once I add the WP mappings, the Commons site will become unavailable under its current URL. So I'd like to coordinate. Kimon, please let me know when you'll no longer need access to the Commons-hosted sites, so that I can create the mappings. Then you can switch the DNS over at your leisure. (Also, can you please specify the current URLs of each of the sites to be mapped - I want to make sure I do the right ones.)

You can go ahead with the mapping now Boone. We are all ready to access the blog through thesegalcenter.org and the other domains (with or without www). Here is the one site URL we want mapped for the six domains above:

http://thesegalcenter.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

And once again the final list of domains to be mapped is:

thesegalcenter.org
martinesegaltheatrecenter.org
mestc.org
www.thesegalcenter.org
www.martinesegaltheatrecenter.org
www.mestc.org

Let me know if you need more info.

OK, I've made the mappings. At the moment, if you try to visit the Commons site, you get redirected to the current production home at web.gc.... Feel free to switch your DNS settings whenever you'd like.

Correct.

I set up thesegalcenter.org the same as preludenyc.org to point to 146.96.128.200 but am getting this error:

The webpage at http://www.thesegalcenter.org/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Do you think this is just DNS switchover lag or is something possibly wrong in my setup or on your end?

I just checked. I got the same error at first, but then I did a hard browser refresh (Shift + Refresh) and it then resolved correctly. I'm guessing that this is a case of an aggressive browser cache, affecting those who recently visited the domain at the old address - which is to say that it shouldn't affect most users.

Please try the hard refresh - or try on another machine - and see if you can replicate.

Working for me.

Thanks both of you for the quick response. It is working for me too now. Just a little panicky :)

Also, that brings this whole transition to an end on the back end. Everything else we are doing in the WP dashboard (although we will probably do some changes next year, especially with Prelude13).

I want to thank you so much for making this happen and for giving MESTC a home on the Commons. Rebecca is really happy with the ability to control the site now and Frank is really excited with how everything looks. You have both been really attentive (and sometimes at all hours like now) and I know that we are in good hands being part of the Commons. Looking forward to continuing to work together and finding new ways to do interesting things together.

Matt, you had mentioned that you guys would advertise our presence on the Commons once we had gone live. We'd love if you could do that. Let us know if you need anything from us.

Also, if either of you get a chance you should try and see some of the things at the Prelude Festival which is tomorrow, Thursday and Friday at the GC

Hi Kimon -- just wanted to let you know that we had a homepage slide up for Prelude and will do one for MESTC soon. Image attached of the Prelude slide (now taken down)

Hi Kimon,

A new slide publicizing MESTC is now on the homepage of the Commons. Screenshot attached.

Best,

Matt
