Bug #2204
closedUser Doesn't Come up in Add New User Autocomplete
0%
Description
I'm trying to add this user - http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/members/adavidson/ - as an admin of this blog - http://bwrc.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ - but when I try to do so, his name doesn't come up via autocomplete. Entering either the username or the Firstname Lastname does nothing; I see some names come up as options when I type, say, "Adam," but they don;t include his name.

Matt,
When I look at the site in question in the Network Dashboard I see that Adam Davidson is currently an admin for the site. I've never added a member as an admin to a site, where did you experience this issue? I see that I can add an exiting user or new user to a site on the Network Sites page in the admin but there is no autocomplete functionality at all. It's just a text box. I've attached a screenshot of the admin page I'm looking at.

Hi Dom,
I see that he's there as a user, too. When I tried to add them through this process, though, his name didn't come up through autocomplete.
Perhaps he had already been added when I was trying to find him through autocomplete; that's the only case I've seen where a user doesn't come up through autocomplete -- when he/she is already part of the blog to which he/she is being added.

That must be what it is. The autocomplete code is smart enough to not return a user that has already been added to the site.
I tried adding him to the GC English site just as a test and his name did come up in the autocomplete. I, of course, didn't add him though. :-)
Can we mark this as resolved?
