okay, think this is done. Please confirm that its working when you have a chance. Doesn't appear to be working yet to me but maybe it takes time to get started?

Yeah, it needed to be added as a ServerAlias under the respective VirtualHost entry. Added now.
In fact this A record is not needed if there's a wildcard record for *.commonsinabox.org already.

No worries, but it still doesn't seem to be working, at least for me.
Clear your cache. (Then start using a browser that doesn't have such a sticky cache. :)
