Description
Lately I've noticed that every time I go to the news page I can only see external blog posts in the activity stream. I'm not sure if this is a bug or that there's just a lot of external blog posts.

- Status changed from New to Assigned
- Assignee set to Boone Gorges
Strange things are afoote on the activity stream. I've felt like "The Geography of the Gowanus Canal" external blog was getting a lot of attention on the news page and, after taking two screenshots a bit ago, (the first at 1:22pm and the second at 1:38pm) the same activity is on the page with conflicting post times. The first screenshot says that it was posted 29 minutes ago and the second screenshot says it was posted 6 minutes ago. The real strange part is that I went to the external blog, http://jessicatymiller.wordpress.com/gowanus-research-blog/, and the post that keeps appearing in the activity stream was posted on June 3, 2013.
It looks like the same post still appears at the top of the activity stream on the News page (screenshot attached).
The same post is still appearing at the top of the activity stream (screenshot attached).
- Status changed from Assigned to Resolved
- Target version set to 1.4.32
Thanks, Sarah. It looks like a recent upgrade to the External Blogs plugin made it so that (a) specific RSS items were written to the activity feed even if they already existed, which would not be such a problem except that (b) they were recorded as having been published at the time they were fetched, rather than the time they were published on the original site. As a result, items keep getting bumped up to the top of the activity stream.
In https://github.com/castiron/cac/commit/31f8c69292e0f7d3b2aa77d2d4ee6d4afdeb79e5, I have changed this behavior so that external blog posts don't get posted to the stream more than once. I'm going to tentatively mark this ticket as resolved, as I'm pretty sure that this'll fix it. That said, it's hard to test because the thing only refreshes every 30 minutes or so. So, if you see that the problem still exists after the next 1.4.32 release, please feel free to reopen this ticket with details.
Great, thanks Boone. If anything looks off on the activity stream I'll open a new ticket.
