closedDomain Mapping Request - Sarah Welsh
0%
Description
Hi -
Sarah wants her domain (http://room418.org) to map to her new site on the Commons: http://room4108.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
She will contact her registrar and get that part done - but please take care of the necessary configurations on our side. Thanks!

Matt, we'll first need to make a request of IT to make this work (whatever Apache config changes need to be made). Once that's done, and once the registrar-level changes have been put in place, only then will I make the WP changes, because if I make them early, the Commons site will be unaccessible.
Scott - are you certain about the mapped domain? You wrote room418.org, but perhaps it's supposed to be room4108.org?

Will do -- and you're right about the name, Boone.

Great. Scott, can I ask you to let me know when Sarah has made the necessary changes with her registrar? (A ping shows that the domain is not yet pointed at the Commons.) Thanks!

Hi Boone/Matt - Thanks for this. http://room4108.org is now redirecting to http://room4108.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
I'll let Sarah know that it is complete.

Scott - It looks like the domain has been redirected rather than mapped. As a redirect, you will still see the address http://room4108.commons.gc.cuny.edu in the browser location bar. With true mapping, you won't know that the site is on the Commons (by URL). If Sarah is OK with this setup, then we can close this ticket. Otherwise, she should go back to her registrar and reconfigure the DNS so that her A record points to 146.96.128.200.

- Status changed from Assigned to Resolved
It looks like the domain is no longer registered, so nothing to do here :(
