Hi!

I recently purchased room4108.org on namecheap.com. It is currently hosted on the Commons as room4108.commons.gc.cuny.edu, which I had you guys do last semester. I would like the room4108.commons.gc.cuny.edu web address to be simply "room4108.org," but still hosted on the Commons. (This is for the Liberal Studies student journal, so we want the URL to be short and the site easy to find). Please let me know what to do next.

Please follow the instructions at https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/319/78/how-can-i-set-up-an-a-address-record-for-my-domain for changing your domain's A name record. Our IP address is 146.96.128.200. Please update this ticket when you've made the change, and I'll start monitoring for propagation to take place. Thanks!

Hi Sarah - It looks like the DNS settings for your domain are not quite right. http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=dnsrec&host=room4108.org is showing that your A record points to 192.31.186.23 (which is, I assume, namecheap.com's default address for parked domains) rather than 146.96.128.200.

It's hard to tell, but it looks as if you may have set a redirect to room4108.commons.gc.cuny.edu with namecheap.com. If so, please make sure that you've removed that redirect in addition to the changed A record. Thanks!

Hi there,

I think I've done this. I redirected the DNS back to namecheap, and then followed the directions for the A (address), which I couldn't have done without redirecting the DNS back to them...

Is that what you mean?
