Description

Someone helping grad students register for the Commons for a class reports that two students haven't received account creation confirmation emails. Can you check the database to see whether the registration for went through?

Yes, I see four registration attempts. That suggests that the email was sent, but ended up in spam.

If you'd like, I can give you the activation key (and corresponding activation link) to pass along to the user, so that he can complete the signup process.

Four attempts by the same address?

I don't remember seeing a place to enter the activation code, so we'd need to give the users some directions. Let me ask them to look in their spam folders first. Perhaps I should tell them to also call Tech support and whitelist the commons domain in their spam detection tool?

The email that was supposed to have been sent would have contained an activation URL that, when clicked, would complete registration. I am offering to send that link.

It is a good idea to have the user look in spam folders. If it's found there, then talking to the GC mail people might be a good idea.

Okay. Asked the person who contacted me to 1) ask students to look in spam filter, and, if unsuccessful, to 2) contact tech support at their colleges to see if they can whitelist our domain. Told her that if neither works, we'll try another way. Let's leave this on Feedback for now. I'll report back when I hear something.

Thanks for the ping and for your work on this. I think we can close this ticket.
