I've had a few people contact me to ask about where they might post announcements. I know we've talked about something like this in the past, but here are a few ideas:
1. A general area where people could post announcements. We could have a checkbox on sign up that asks people whether they want to subscribe by email
2. A craigslist type bulletin board -- perhaps done through a group, but is access more through the forum interface than through a group interface
3. A general group for announcements.
What do you all think? I think that, generally, it should be an easy to use space that allows opt-in subscriptions.

All three of those options boil down to the same thing from a technical point of view. I don't think it should be styled like a group, but it will almost certainly be a group from the BP point of view.

Boone, you weren't there for this but at the end of the general CAT meeting someone asked for stackoverflow type of functionality where people could ask questions of the commons community and others could respond. As I see it this is very similar functionality to the other features requested here so perhaps they should be a part of the same ticket.
There is one major difference that would require more work or adapting another piece of software and that is allowing people to vote on answers and allowing the person who made the question to select the answer that worked. In that case I would think it will need to go on a separate feature request.
