Description
We tried using Woo Projects on our test site (https://acertdev2.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/) but received 'Page not found' errors for the Projects page and the individual projects when we tried accessing them directly by the URL. On my test site (http://davidacert.commons.gc.cuny.edu/project/test/) I have Woo Projects as the only plugin activated. I can see my projects page but none of my projects.
When I test Woo projects on my local WAMPserver, this does not happen.
Our public site (on the commons) is acert.hunter.cuny.edu
Thank you!

I activated the plugin on a test site and got the same error. I went to Settings>>Permalinks and made a change and saved and the plugin now works. Actually, I think all you need to do is go to Permalinks and save the page. Can you try this?

Thank you all. It seems to be working now.

As of this morning, the plugin is returning "Page not found errors" on both our test site and our live site (acert.hunter.cuny.edu). Is there a way for me to change this ticket to 'not resolved' or do I need to start another? Thank you.

Also, we have the same issue with the Canvas Portfolios and Jetpack Portfolios plugins.

On which site, David?

Hi Matt, we had the issue on both the acert.hunter.cuny.edu and the https://acertdev2.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ sites. Thank you.

Hi David - I tested on my Canvas test site and Woo Projects is still working fine for me. I know that we had a maintenance release last night, but don't think that should have affected anything. Just curious - did you try to reset your permalinks again? And which permalink style are you using? It is strange that you are having three plugins give you the same "Page not Found" error. I looked at your sites but did not see any example - can you provide a url where the error is happening? Thanks!

Hi Scott-Strangely, as of this morning, Portfolio and Woo Projects seem to be working fine on our public site acert.hunter.cuny.edu.
However, on our dev2 site, we are still encountering the error.

The projects page currently works (had the error before) but does not show my portfolio above

Portfolios

http://acertdev2.commons.gc.cuny.edu/portfolio-items/collins/
http://acertdev2.commons.gc.cuny.edu/portfolio-items/steve-bauman/
I tried resetting permalinks again, am currently using "Day and name" on both sites
If you need me to add you as an admin, please let me know.
Thank you!

Hi Scott,
Update: as of one hour ago, Woo Projects on our public site (acert.hunter.cuny.edu) is returning a Page not found error on the projects.
http://acert.hunter.cuny.edu/project/donna-mcgregor-and-pamela-mills/
http://acert.hunter.cuny.edu/project/collins-fitt2013/
Also, our Projects page (http://acert.hunter.cuny.edu/showcase/) which was previously displaying links to our projects above, now only displays a link to itself (links to http://acert.hunter.cuny.edu/showcase/).
Thank you,
David

Very strange. Boone, can you please troubleshoot or, if you don't have time, reassign to Ray? Many thanks.

I looked through the plugins activated on the acert site to see if any were doing anything inappropriate with regard to rewrite rules. It turns out that multiple-category-selection-widget is doing about the worst thing possible: flushing the rewrite rules each time WP is loaded, on 'init'. This appears to be creating a race condition with Projects, which is registering its post type on 'init' - for some reason, the flush is sometimes running before the post type gets registered, and when that happens, it's not getting refreshed properly.
I've put in a hotfix for this issue https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/ed54f87182abbae0b296017547d3a8d1ce852a89 and manually flushed the rewrite rules on the acert site. The pages are now loading correctly. It's not possible for me to test directly whether this has solved the problem. David, if this problem happens again in the next few days, please be sure to let us know right away.

Thanks Boone! We're not currently using the multiple category select plug-in, so I've deactivated it for now. I think we will need that functionality in the future, but given some of the things I read in the forum for that plug-in, it might be better to identify a different plug-in with similar functionality.
On a different, but related, note, I noticed that WooThemese updated the Projects plug-in earlier this month. How do you deal with plug-in updates on the Commons?

Thanks, Gina! I'm going to close this ticket to clear out the milestone (and under the hope that we've tracked down the issue).

In brief: we do minor updates on the 1st, 11th, and 21st of each month. Major updates happen on the first 21st after the first 5th on which the major update is available. Read this for details if you'd like http://dev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/release-schedule-and-procedures/, but the short version is that we take care of it for you.
