Feature #3737
closedDomain mapping to the Commons from .nyc domain?
0%
Description
I am currently building a website around my research project at the GC, which I would like to host via the Commons. I have registered a .nyc domain but what name servers do I use to redirect the domain to the commons site, and do you need to do some mapping?

Thanks, Kalle. There are two steps - we'll need to go through on our end. First, I need to ask IT to set up the domain mapping, and then we need to make some configurations on the Commons. Then you'll just need to set up the DNS server info on your side.
For the first step, please let me know what domain you want to map to what other domain. thanks.

Thank you for your incredibly quick turn-around! The domain name is boylesque.nyc, and the it should be mapped to boylesque.commons.gc.cuny.edu.

Are there any updates on this? Do I need to do anything on my part? Change the domain record on register.com, right?

Hi Kalle,
Once Matt has confirmed that the IT request has been completed, you can then follow the second point in these instructions:

Sorry, I neglected to update this ticket. IT reported the request as completed, so please do test.

DNS for boylesque.nyc points toward a Dreamhost server. I'm assuming this means that the request is no longer valid. Please reopen if the user still wants to use the Commons for this purpose.
