Description
This is a placeholder ticket for issues related to integrating the new DiRT tool into the Commons. I'll try to get it up on cdev so that we can discuss any required work (especially related to visual styling), perhaps at the next meeting.

The DiRT plugin has been added to the Commons in https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/0c88f1bcfe29ddc1e47689b5a85ac1c0a4b2f6ad. It is now available for testing on cdev. I have done some additional work to ensure that it works with our theme, and added enough Commons-specific styling to make sure that things aren't too funky.
As we've promised this feature for 1.7.14 on March 1, we don't have time to do extensive reworking of the UX from what's in place. But we have time to do some additional styling and labeling/text fixes, if the team can identify specific areas for improvement.
As a refresher, here's what to look at:
- http://cdev.gc.cuny.edu/tool is the tool directory. Here you can see what's in use by members of the site, as well as query DiRT for new tools
- Groups should now have an admin tab Digital Research Tools, where the public tab can be enabled for the group
- When a tool is added by a user, it will get its own page on the Commons
- When a user has added at least one tool, a Digital Research Tools tab will appear on the user's profile
Could I ask the watchers of this ticket (Matt, Chris, Samantha) to have a look at cdev and let me know whether we'll need any specific changes before we can launch? (Keep in mind that we can clean up rough edges in future releases too.) Thanks!

Very cool to see it in the Commons environment, Boone!
Things I noticed in its new environment:- It doesn't seem like the Explore By Category search is finding any 'On This Site' results. For instance, I indicated that I use CATMA. If I do a keyword search it shows up under 'On This Site', if I choose the 'Commenting' category, it only appears in the 'On The DiRT Directory' results.
- "Explore more tools from DiRT on the Digital Tools Directory" is a great link in the My Tools area. Until we get to the point where there's a static tab for the Directory, it would be great to have this on each Tool description page so that it's easy to get back to the main list.
- The line spacing needs to be increased on the individual tools page (see screenshot).
- There seems to be a response-lag if you check, uncheck, and then check a box again. The check doesn't reappear, though I think it's technically recording the action.
I wonder if we're confusing everything by using lots of similar language for the internal and external directories: DiRT, DiRT Directory, Digital Research Tools Directory, 'registry of digital research tools' (in the definition). For instance, I really expected the link in "Samantha Raddatz uses 4 tools from the DiRT Directory:" to connect to the Commons list of tools, not the DiRT list -- so even I don't have it straight. On top of that 'Digital Research Tools' is definitely too long of a title for labeling, as you mentioned, Boone. I'll think about this more, but would love any ideas from others on this.

Thanks for the helpful feedback, Samantha! I have addressed all of your bullet points, and the latest is ready for testing on cdev. (The Category one was due to a change in data schema on the DiRT end - note that items already created on cdev will continue not to have their Category data synced, but newly created items should.)
My original thinking on labeling was this. I wanted to use the term "DiRT" fairly liberally, out of respect for their project. But for navigation items, it's too opaque, so I went with the clearer (but wordier) "Digital Research Tools". I would be more than happy to standardize, so if you have any brainstorms, please let me know :)

- Status changed from Assigned to Resolved
Added to the Commons in https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/0c88f1bcfe29ddc1e47689b5a85ac1c0a4b2f6ad and updated in subsequent changesets. I'm going to close this ticket so as to have it completed against the 1.7.14 milestone. As new issues and ideas for improvement come up, let's open separate tickets for them.
