I noticed that member search links are showing up on this member's profile - http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/members/bwalters/ - in the publication section.

I'm not sure whether this is due to an incorrectly closed link that the member added or whether there is something else going on here, but I'm sure that those links shouldn't be there as they are.

cc'ing Marilyn on this as I saw her suggest adding links to a profile to another user and want her to be aware that at least some of these links were automatically generated, likely in error

This is happening because of Barbara's use of square brackets. In https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/5ae5b660ee0c08a299dfe32888eb80073b1e52cb, I removed the functionality that causes bracketed content to be converted to links in the context of portfolio widgets. This will go live in 1.8.9.
