Description
Member Courtney D reports that social sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter) are not reflecting the posts published on http://gcees.commons.gc.cuny.edu/. This has been going on for several weeks. The site is using JetPack's "Publicize" feature. See settings, attached.

Dan, could you have a look? On the production site, set up Jetpack Publicize with a dummy Twitter account, and see if posts are going through as you'd expect. Thanks!

Sorry this got by me! I just tested it and it worked fine for me.
It might be worth asking her to look at the "Publicize" section for her posts as she's posting them (in the "Publish" section at the top of the post edit screen) and make sure that the services she wants to share the posts on are selected. This has to be done before the posts are published. In my case it was automatically selected, so I doubt this is the problem, but it's still worth checking I think.

Oh okay - I'm not sure of the best way to explain it to her, but the settings I was referring to aren't reflected on that screenshot she attached. They're connected to each individual post's edit screen.

Hi all - Based on Dan's comments above, I looked more closely into the situation. It appears that the site is not connected to a wordpress.com account, which means that the Publicize tools aren't available. See the note near the top of https://gcees.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing&action=error&publicize_error=unknown_user.
It does appear from an earlier screenshot that the wordpress.com sync may have worked at one time. At this time, I'm unsure how the two would have become unlinked. For the time being, I'd like to focus on getting things working again. Marilyn, could you please ask the user to follow the instructions on the linked page, to get Publicize working again? And then, during the posting process, be sure that the correct "Publicize" options (in the Publish meta box) are selected.

She writes "Isn't my commons account the wordpress account?"
I'm guessing not, right? She should sign up for a wordpress.com site using the same email address as her CAC account?

Correct. In order to use the Jetpack features, she'll have to create a wordpress.com account, and link it to her Commons site. https://jetpack.com/support/connect-to-wordpress-com/ is a helpful guide.
