Description
We've received a request from Michael (whom I've subscribed to this ticket) to include a button that will indent text in forum posts. I know that we used to allow formatting on posts through TinyMCE but stopped because we had problems with it. Is it time to revisit that?
Reintroducing the TinyMCE box will take some work. Bumping to 1.3.
Also, what does "indent" mean? Like a blockquote?
Thanks, Boone. Yes, indented text means text that is tabbed over five spaces or so from the left margin.
Yes, I understand the general meaning of "indented". Just wanted to clarify that this meant something along the lines of blockquote, and not paragraph-level first-line indent. The former is easy, the latter is hard.
I guess I don't know the answer to this -- Michael, can you chime in with your intentions here? -- but I'm pretty sure that blockquote-style indenting would be fine.
This thread has me thinking of these lines from Airplane!
Rumack: You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.
Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack: It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.
Blockquote is more than I was thinking. I would just like to be able to insert a Tab character.
I copied a tab character from another document and pasted into my post, as a workaround.

- Target version changed from 1.2.1 to 1.3
Thanks for the clarification, Michael. This should be doable, but my own view is that we should have a Tab button alongside Bold, Italic, etc, rather than usurping the Tab key itself. I don't want to mess with the UI convention that Tab can be used to navigate to the next field on the page.
That sounds like a good idea to me, Boone. Nice catch on the tab button UI convention.
- Tracker changed from Bug to Feature
Thanks for your work on this, Boone. I know that it was neither easy nor fun. I appreciate it.
