Bug #9095
closedEmail notifications of events may not be going out
0%
Description
When I logged into the CAC today, I saw in My Commons that someone had created events in one of my groups. But I had not received notifications. My email status for the group in question ( https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/gc-events-and-workshops/events/ ) is "All Email." Can you please check to ensure that email notifications for calendar events are working as they should?

I believe Boone wrote the email module for the BP Event Organiser plugin, so I might not be the best person to ask.
However, if the event was connected to multiple groups, you should have received one email about the event. It might not have been from the GC Events and Workshops group though, but from another group. Can you verify?
Can you also copy the event link and list your subscription level of the group(s) that are connected to that event?
I will do some testing tomorrow, but it's getting a little late over here.

Okay -- I've made Boone a watcher here.
I do not think the events were posted to multiple groups. here is a link to the event -- https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/gc-events-and-workshops/events/itp-skills-lab-data-visualization-2-2/ and I've attached a screenshot of activity items posted to My Commons
My subscription to GC Events and Workshops is "All Email"

I just tested new event creation, and "All Email" notifications are working in general.
There's a "Silent" checkbox when creating events. When checked, the activity item is created, but GES notifications are suppressed. https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/bp-event-organiser/blob/d3bd473b5d72e8a75384f44ae4cde8c5cdf7bc72/includes/group.php#L907. My guess is that the user creating the events checked this box. We don't keep any record of whether the box was checked, but we could verify by asking the user. Matt, do you want to follow up?

- Status changed from Assigned to Rejected
False alarm -- the user did indeed check the "silent" option -- which, knowing me, I probably advocated for creating. At any rate, sorry for the bother
