Description
Hi there,
I'm working on some change to the BMCC CETLS site at cetls.bmcc.cuny.edu and it would be great to have a development clone available for testing, something at celtsdev.bmcc.cuny.edu if possible.
Thanks!
Owen

Ray, would you mind taking care of this? There's a plugin on the Commons: https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/8414

- Category name changed from WordPress (misc) to Domain Mapping
- Target version set to Not tracked
Hi Owen,
I've cloned the existing CETLS site to https://bmccetlsdev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
I have also mapped the domain to cetlsdev.bmcc.cuny.edu
, but BMCC will need to set up a subdomain for the CETLS dev site - cetlsdev.bmcc.cuny.edu - and point that to the Commons.
Once you have done this, let me know and I can redirect bmccetlsdev.commons.gc.cuny.edu
to cetlsdev.bmcc.cuny.edu

Hi Ray
Thanks for the quick work.
I would be fine using the bmccetlsdev.commons.gc.cuny.edu domain if that's okay, I think a request for a new sub domain from BMCC could take a while....
Is there a way for me to FTP into the dev site to upload a child theme or do I need to go through the regular protocols for submitting updates to the commons?
Thanks!

- Category name changed from Domain Mapping to WordPress (misc)
Hi Owen,
I forgot to add you as an administrator to the CETLS Dev site. You should be able to login and administer the site now - https://bmccetlsdev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
As for FTP, unfortunately, we cannot provision users with FTP accounts due to security issues.
What I would recommend is to set up a local server so you can install WordPress and to develop your child theme. Once you are happy with it, we can add your child theme to our codebase. Also, if the parent theme isn't already on the Commons, we would need a copy of that as well.
Are you familiar with setting up a local instance of WordPress? If not, there should be plenty of guides available on the web. If you need help, let me know and we can try and guide you.

Hi Ray
Thanks for your response. I'm working on setting up a local instance to work on.
One issue I have is that the CETLS site uses the WooThemes Canvas Theme, which is a paid theme.
Do you happen to know if there is a way for me to install the Canvas Theme locally?
Thanks
