Scott, it appears that the user has set up a registrar-level redirect to the Commons site. With this configuration, if I actually map the domain in WordPress, the result is some weird redirect logic. We can leave it as-is - so that requests to www.jrvdn.com will resolve at https://jvandernaald.commons.gc.cuny.edu/. Or, if we want true mapping (so that you only see jrvdn.com in the browser), the user will have to enter a CNAME DNS record and remove the redirect.
