Hi Scott,
Just FYI, please use the plugin request form (under documents - http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/documents/4 ) for these kinds of requests. Many thanks!
Best,
Matt

Can you provide that info please, Scott?
Installing this plugin is going to require a bunch of investigation into the ramifications of having multiple Google Analytics accounts on a single blog. See eg http://www.ehow.com/info_12157951_can-multiple-codes-google-analytics-page.html and asynchronous requests.

Dom, can you investigate whether it will work properly to have a Google Analytics account for a specific blog, given that we have networkwide Google Analytic code in the footer? I don't know whether it's even compatible with the way GA works.
Updated by Dominic Giglio almost 13 years ago
I've started to look into this issue because I've worked a little with GA in my own themes and framework.
Apparently tracking multiple GA accounts is possible from one page:
http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/tracking/asyncUsageGuide.html#MultipleCommands
I think we could create a simple "CAC_Analytics" plugin that would insert our tracking code on every page AS WELL AS offer each individual blog the ability to enable their own tracking code. It could even be expanded to offer tracking from other analytic services. I'll let you know once I've experimented and found out a little more.

Thanks, Dominic. FYI: our GA tracking code is currently hardcoded into wp-content/plugins/cac-sitewide-footer.php, which is network activated.

I'm moving this to Future Release for the moment. Dom, if you get to this in the meantime, feel free to move it back.

We recently discovered that we can easily have Google Analytics email statistical reports to members, and we have now advertised that service - http://news.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2012/06/23/introducing-google-analytics-for-your-blog/ . I'd like to suggest that we close this ticket, since I think we're now delivering more or less what the tickets asked for. Any objections?
And Scott, can you inform Manuel of this new feature? Many thanks.

I agree. I think if a user needs more information than what's included in these reports, we can revisit that particular issue if/when it comes up.
