Email links broken in profiles?

Description
I don't know if it's just me or my broser, etc, but it seems like the email links on my profile are coming up broken, like:
<a href="mailto:apitanga@gc.cuny.edu">apitanga@gc.cuny.edu</a>
- Category name set to BuddyPress (misc)
- Status changed from New to Assigned
- Assignee set to Boone Gorges
- Target version set to 96
- Severity set to High impact
- Priority name changed from Normal to Urgent

Awesome time-to-resolve here : ) I've only ran into it because I started adding my profile link to email sigs and wanted to double-check that everything was at sane.

I'm pretty sure this has always been the case. It's a complication of the way we auto-link profile fields in BuddyPress. Should be fixed in the next version of BP.

I wonder if it wouldn't be more intuitive to just render it as text then...
