Does anyone have an opinion on simply making a link on the About page to the Download page? After thinking about it this may be better than having a download button. Most people will probably install CBOX through the WP dashboard (and this is the simplest way) so I'm not sure if we want to have a download button. Also downloading is useless unless you have WP so we might want to make sure they understand that before they try to download.
On the download page I added some text for how to do the download but commented it out in the HTML so view HTML if you want to look. I will uncomment it on Monday. That text has instructions for getting the plugin through the WP dashboard, download from the WP repository and a link to Git Hub and it mentions that there are requirements and links to that doc page.
Hi Chris - Sorry, I just saw this. I put in a Download button on the Home sidebar - it just links to the download page. We can easily take it out if we want.
This is a great question, Chris. I agree that it makes sense to have people DL from inside their own WP installations. However, I'm not sure that means that we shouldn't have a download button -- just that the download button should perhaps lead to a download page where people are told A) they can/should dl from inside WP; B) if they want direct access to the plugin files, here they are.
