Description

I tried to forward a message with a PDF attachment here -- https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/ma-in-digital-humanities-cuny-graduate-center/forum/topic/fwd-fw-hiring-digital-specialist-at-slu/

1st attempt -- body of email posted, but attachment didn't post. no warning or message to me that attachment didn't post
2nd attempt -- I pasted text from PDF into a reply and sent it to the forum via email, and also included the PDF again. the pasted text was removed from my post, and again, the attachment didn't post. Again, no notice of failure to post
3rd attempt -- I went to the website and attached the PDF via the web interface, and it posted

all attempts made from a Mac laptop. Attachment on this ticket. please let me know whether you want sent email messages.

Matt, can you tell me if attachments ever worked with forwarded emails when posting by email? I'll have to push this one down the priority list while I work on other tickets.

I'm guessing all attempts were made via Apple's email client. Can you try through GMail on the web?

Yes, please forward both the first and second attempts and I'll look into this when I can.

Sometimes, it is the simplest answer! The reply-by-email inbound email attachments plugin was not activated. This is related to #23361. Let me know if adding attachments when posting by email are working as they are supposed to.

This wouldn't address the second attempt though. I believe that is related to copying and pasting rich text, which might confuse RBE's HTML to plain-text parser.
