Description

I came across an issue when trying to read the Academic Commons Team Forum. Boone added me as a member to the group and as I tried to open a forum topic, I was launched to a fail safe page. I'm given the option to leave the group so I'm definitely a member of the Cuny Academic Commons Team group, but it says there are no forum topics because the group is private? I've attached a screen shot.

I tried to clear the cache thinking maybe that was the issue but to no avail.

Is there any way to resolve this? Specifically, do admins simply need to approve new members to read forums?

When I added Paige to the group last night via Dashboard > Network Admin > Groups, I had to "save changes" to the group. This uncovered a bug in https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/bece8640eece3e784dd39514bb0855a1510dce7a, which I introduced in #5133 to prevent bbPress from crashing the dashboard due to timeouts. The bug was that, since forums in the dropdown were being limited, the forum that should have been selected in the dropdown was not selected. As such, when the group was saved, it was saved with a forum_id of 0.

I have worked around this with a different approach to bypassing bbPress's dropdown: https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/3784ef42a2b45797b14a46522ef8f11edb308b62
