Feature #594
closedAdd more meaningful error messages when adding users to blogs doesn't work
0%
Description
Please also refer to #592 (http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/show/592#change-2281) and #593 (http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/show/593).
When adding users to a common blog, the error messages don't help the user figure out what he/she is doing wrong. Errors such as user name should be all lowercase or can't have hyphens in it don't seem to be valid. Also, perhaps we should suggest how an admin can find the information that needs to be used to fill out the form. I have attached screenshot showing some misleading error messages. (In this case, I was just using Sarah's wrong email address.)
If #593 is done - work on this ticket would be unnecessary. Thanks.

Scott, I'm pushing this to the next version. If you happen to find time to look at it sooner, we can bump it back :)

WP's interface for adding users to blogs has improved in recent versions. Once our server has been upgraded to let us upgrade to the most recent WP, we should revisit whether the improvements called for in this ticket are still relevant.

Scott, would you mind having a look at how this works on cdev now? I think it's much improved, and it may make this ticket irrelevant.

- Target version changed from 1.3 to Not tracked
Moving this out of the milestone, as it's likely not an issue anymore. Scott, if you test it and decide that something specific needs to be changed, please feel free to move the issue back into a valid milestone, and explain the changes you think need to be made. If you're happy with the way things work now, you can just close the ticket.

Thanks, Scott. Can you add some detail? Did you push a fix to Github? If so, please include a link. Many thanks!

Hi Matt - I think the process of adding users to blogs is much improved, and agree with Boone that this is not likely to be an issue anymore. So I closed the ticket. But if you think we still need to work on this, please open and I will investigate further. Thanks.
