Ray - Because this isn't coming through the wp.org repo, please run it through the Theme Check plugin (it should already be in the Commons repo) to make sure there's nothing egregious before committing it. If you're unsure what counts as "egregious" feel free to ask - I don't think our standards are as strict as the wp.org theme gang's :)

For anyone who hasn't checked out the theme, here's a demo from the author:
http://pengbos.com/wp-content/demo/pi/index.htm
My rundown:
I installed the theme on my local sandbox and the theme requires you to create pages of a certain page slug and posts in a certain category. If you don't, then the pages / posts will not show up on the site. This is not made explicitly clear if you just activate the theme.
There's a tutorial video:
http://pengbos.com/blog/screencast-how-to-build-a-portfolio-website-with-a-free-wordpress-theme
However, this video isn't linked from the theme options page and I didn't know I needed to watch the video in order to get the site up and running.
I also ran the theme through Theme Check and there's quite a lot of warnings and requirements.
Because the theme is more of a portfolio theme, it does not include a widget sidebar or any theme templates for comments, pagination and tags.
Summary:
It's not the best theme in terms of documentation and also not the best-developed theme either. For those reasons, I would not recommend putting this on CUNY Commons, as it will create more end user questions than anything else.

Thanks for the recommendation and research, Ray. I'm reassigning this to myself so I can have a final look. Matt, will you chime in on why you want this theme? Anything beyond the fact that it looks cool?
Updated by Matt Gold over 13 years ago
I saw it being used on Jason Farman's newly revealed course site and thought it looked cool and unlike other themes we have on the site. I very much appreciate Ray's review, though, and I'm perfectly fine with not adding it if it is bringing up warnings and presents a security threat. Please feel free to reject the ticket after doing your review, but Ray's review is enough for me.

My recommendation was heavily weighted to how a user would react when the theme is activated. If you check the author's release post, there are also some people experiencing the same problems I noted above.
The technical problems are:- not sanitizing input field values before they are saved into the DB from the theme options page
- the usage of one deprecated function
The rest of the warning and requirements could be overlooked because the theme is a portfolio theme.

- Status changed from Assigned to Rejected

I really appreciate your perspective on this, Ray, and your care for the way that members use the site. I'm just going to reject this ticket.
