Description

CAC FF reports that Add Users Sidebar Widget is no longer showing up on her site; had constructed onboarding process for her course (which starts next week) that relied on this plugin.

I confirmed on test site that widget is not visible when plugin is activated. Related to https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/35d2ddf7feb466f896ac9f6a5fb74fe922ecd0ea ?

Yes, it's due to that changeset. My apologies for the regression.

I've reverted the change and deployed as a hotfix. The widget should be working as before.

The Add Users plugin is difficult to maintain. It uses WordPress APIs that have been deprecated for close to 10 years. If we're going to keep it in our arsenal and recommend that people use it, we should spend some time making it easier to take care of. If it ends up being superceded by some of our onboarding work, we should remove it.

I wrote a similar plugin for another organization that might be helpful.

Could use some testing from the community team to see whether it might supercede the Add Users plugin.

We missed this in our onboarding audit. New workflow should make this unnecessary, but we can discuss.

Thanks for addressing so quickly.

Ray - your plugin is approximately 500x better. Let's make a decision after we have a settled spec for the onboarding rewrite to make a decision.
